Sombrio Beach

Quick Day Trip from Victoria to Sombrio Beach

A short scenic drive from Victoria takes you along the southern coast of Vancouver Island, ending at Sombrio Beach — a rugged spot known for its hidden waterfall, driftwood-covered shore, and great surf. The trail down is about 10 minutes through the forest, opening up to sweeping views of the Pacific.

Victoria to Fernie

Overnight Stop in Osoyoos

Our road trip from Victoria to Fernie started with a bit of luck — we spotted a few orcas from the ferry on the way to Vancouver. After that, we made a couple of stops, including Bass Pro and a few snowboard shops to pick up our gear for the season ahead.

We pushed on and made it to Osoyoos just before nightfall, spending the evening there to rest up before the long haul east. The next day we finished the drive to Fernie, where we settled into our new digs for the next six months.

Not long after arriving, we explored Silver Spring Lake — a short hike with unreal views and crystal-clear turquoise water.
